A temporary set-up in Weston-super-Mare, a small seaside town close to Banksy’s home of Bristol, England, Dismaland was conceived as something of a dystopian parody of Disneyland. Here are some of the things you can expect should you decide to pay a visit.

1. David Cameron
This poster graces the Cinderella Castle at Dismaland, featuring current Prime Minster David Cameron. For anyone not in the know, David Cameron is a leader of the Conservative Party, often controversial for their views on immigration, public services, and welfare. Banksy is a known critic of both David Cameron and the Conservative Party.

31 Adorable Promposals That Will Probably Make You Cringe http://dev.trendify.com/30-adorable-promposals-that-will-probably-make-you-cringe/ http://dev.trendify.com/30-adorable-promposals-that-will-probably-make-you-cringe/#comments Tue, 18 Aug 2015 23:07:44 +0000 http://dev.trendify.com/?p=4224 continue reading]]> With school close to starting up again, it’s worth taking a look back at the memories and friends we’ve made throughout our school careers. Who can forget prom? Prom is often thought of as one of the biggest milestones of someone’s high school career and it’s an exciting time for everyone involved on campus- if you went, that is. But even though prom has been considered such an important milestone for decades, it was treated as a relatively low-key affair. You asked out a girl and then, for two hours, you awkwardly danced with her, drank too much punch, and hoped she didn’t notice how bad you were sweating. Nowadays, kids go to the extreme when it comes to asking out a girl, setting up elaborate promposals that are often more elaborate than marriage proposals. Here’s some of the wackiest, weirdest, and oddly sweetest promposals we’ve seen.

1. Lego to Prom?
On paper it sounds like a fantastic idea. But it’s all fun and games until blocks fall off the poster and she steps on them in the middle of the night. Still, at least this happy couple went for a relatively easy and inexpensive route. The pun is a little painful (Lego to prom, anyone) but she’s fallen hook, line and sinker for it which is at least what he seems to be going for.

15 College Majors Where Women Make More Than Men http://dev.trendify.com/15-college-majors-where-women-make-more-than-men/ http://dev.trendify.com/15-college-majors-where-women-make-more-than-men/#comments Sun, 16 Aug 2015 22:40:39 +0000 http://dev.trendify.com/?p=4212 continue reading]]> It’s been said that women tend to make about $.75 for every dollar a man makes in most professions. While this tends to be the case in many positions, sometimes certain cases defy the trends. There’s already a growing number of college majors where women outnumber men (accounting and biology among them). But there’s now a number of college majors where women actually tend to earn higher salaries then men. Here are just a few of them.

15. Chemical Engineering
STEM fields are, even to this day, still thought of as a male dominated field. But as we’re starting to see, women are outpacing men in a number of STEM career fields. Chemical engineering is one of them. In general, this field involves applying physical science (like physics and chemistry) to natural sciences (biological) and mathematics and engineering in order to figure out how to transport, produce, and utilize chemical materials. According to research, the wage premium (or percentage of earned wages versus projected wages) was 1% more for women in the field than it was for men.

Shia LaBeouf’s “JUST DO IT” Video Has Created Some of the Best Memes We’ve Seen http://dev.trendify.com/shia-labeoufs-just-do-it-video-has-created-some-of-the-best-memes-weve-seen/ http://dev.trendify.com/shia-labeoufs-just-do-it-video-has-created-some-of-the-best-memes-weve-seen/#comments Fri, 14 Aug 2015 22:05:08 +0000 http://dev.trendify.com/?p=4154 continue reading]]> Oh, Shia LaBeouf. Lately, you never fail to raise an eyebrow. Between appearing at a German film festival with a bag over your head or giving one of the most incredible motivational speeches of all time, you, Shia, somehow manage to out-do Nicholas Cage when it comes to being completely and totally nutty.

With all that in mind, here’s a clip from Shia LaBeouf’s original 30-minute motivational speech. Bask in the insanity and then check out the funniest memes that have stemmed from this video below.

1. 2001: A Space Shia-dssey
You’d think it’d be impossible to top the glory of the original video. But you’d be wrong. A number of Internet denizens have been taking advantage of the fact that Shia LaBeaof nicely filmed himself in front of green screen and have inserted him into all kinds of videos and memes. Here’s one of my personal favorites, his appearance in 2001: A Space Odyssey, calling out HAL.

National Geographic Predicts What Americans Will Look Like in Year 2050 (30 Photos) http://dev.trendify.com/national-geographic-predicts-what-americans-will-look-like-in-year-2050-30-photos/ http://dev.trendify.com/national-geographic-predicts-what-americans-will-look-like-in-year-2050-30-photos/#comments Wed, 12 Aug 2015 02:55:03 +0000 http://dev.trendify.com/?p=4098 continue reading]]> It’s hard to tell what the future will hold, especially when it comes to what the future will look like. And we’re not talking about whether or not we’ll be seeing hover boards or flying cars within the next few decades. How about what your neighbors will look like? America, as we know it, is a melting pot. National Geographic recently attempted to figure out what the population will look like in 2050. Racial and cultural boundaries are blurring. Even today, thousands of Americans navigate how to identify themselves on government forms and in their daily lives. How will we see race in 35 years? National Geographic is offering us an interesting look at how people will change. Now, the people featured throughout the gallery are people living today. Photographed by Martin Schoeller, the goal is to show that identity and race don’t fit neatly into a few check boxes.

1. Japanese
This is Alexander Sugiura. While he self-identifies as American and Jewish, he often checks “Japanese” on government forms.

Photographer Andrew Cremeans Shows Us The ‘Edward Scissorhands’ Neighborhood, 25-Years-Later http://dev.trendify.com/photographer-andrew-cremeans-shows-us-the-edward-scissorhands-neighborhood-25-years-later/ http://dev.trendify.com/photographer-andrew-cremeans-shows-us-the-edward-scissorhands-neighborhood-25-years-later/#comments Wed, 12 Aug 2015 00:47:21 +0000 http://dev.trendify.com/?p=4077 continue reading]]> Tim Burton’s “Edward Scissorhands”, for anyone who lives under a rock, tells the story of a curious android-like guy, played by Johnny Depp, who deals with his curious predicament of having scissor-like hands (due to his inventor father being unable to craft human like hands for Edward before his death). Depp’s Edward is soon taken in by a suburban family and must figure out where he fits in, all while falling for the family’s daughter, played by Winona Ryder.

Andrew Cremeans (who goes by Voodrew on Imgur) had grown up in the same Tampa neighborhood where “Edward Scissorhands” was filmed. In 1990, the same year the film was released, his mother even worked with the production’s on-set doctor. In honor of the film’s 25th anniversary, Cremeans returned to his old stomping around with his daughter in tow. Attempting to match up houses and points of interest in his old neighborhood with stills from the film, it’s a unique look at the pastel-filled neighborhood that helped make “Edward Scissorhands” so iconic. Cremeans had posted the pictures on Imgur and they quickly catapulted right to the front page.

Website Mashable recently got in touch with Andrew Cremeans. Cremeans claimed he wondered whether or not the owners of the homes featured in the film even knew their neighborhood was the backdrop to Edward Scissorhands. The results of his photoshoot are below.
